Lightweight Airborne SAR
High Radar resolution is made possible with a large-size antenna. With Infinity Radar’s SAR, the need for a single, large antenna is removed by substituting it with a virtual or synthetic antenna composed over time from the individual, small-size, physical antennas under linear motion. By mounting a physical antenna a few feet long on a fast-moving aircraft, it produces a synthetic antenna hundreds of meters long–thus allowing for resolution in the order of a few meters or less.
Focused images are created using the vibration compensation process Combined with Pulse compression techniques the SAR allows similar resolution in range as well, thereby providing means for radar-based high-resolution observation of ground areas.
